and another....

How could I catch up on missed blogs and not mention Vegas....HELLO? Is anybody home???

Las Vegas, NV. Patrick and Danielle's wedding brought the family together out west... it was fun to the hilt!!!! Grandma in her scooter getting lost in the casinos...we dubbed her "Speedy", cousins getting up to no good on the black jack tables...Madhatter styleee, no doubt, and a wedding..my cousin, Patrick and his beautiful bride, Danielle...under the stars at the Bellagio...it was perfect. So happy to be blessed with the family I have. I love each and every one of them...and missed the ones who couldn't make the trip...it's never the same unless we're all together. This trip was a blast. I miss my cousins something terrible.....

I Spit on Your Grave Premiere!!! and Chi-town.

I realized in my foggy lackluster blogging rituals...there were two important events I never mentioned....which is blasphemy if you ask me! So, I am making up for lost blogging....here it goes...
Chicago. A reunion of 4 best friends who have been in each others lives since highschool...we've seen it all together....the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between. These 3 girls are the core of my life. Truly, I am who I am partly because of their influence...they know me inside and out. I can't explain the feeling of knowing someone for who they started out as other than to relate them to family. That's what they are to me. So, it is sad that Nicole lives in Milford, CT, Kami in Orlando, FL, Me in Los Angeles, CA and Alicia in Chicago, IL. We are spread out across America....but make it a point to come together every now and again and be our silly selfs. This time in Chicago. My best friends....I LOVE YOU and MISSSSSSS YOU! Chicago with all of you was a highlight of my year...

We were all over the city....I can hear the Sex in the City intro music in my head...
bumm bum bum bum. BUM bum...bummm bummmmmm bum bum.......

This brings me to another special highlight this year. I Spit on Your Grave movie premiere. Chad worked so hard on this film and his performance was palpable. A review I thought apropos...

Chad Lindberg portrayed the mentally challenged man who's bullied by the thugs he grew up with to get in on the gang rape. He captured the fragile, but still capable of violence Matthew with perfection and when it was all over with, you actually felt for the character (even if it was just a little). He delivers a multi......-dimensional, impressive performance and his talent shines through like never before.

I WAS AND AM SOOOO PROUD. HE WAS SPECTACULAR...and so was the night....

Swapmeetin it! and Chaddykin's birthday!

Sunday-Halloween marked the first day of saSSaFrass art at the Melrose/Fairfax Trading Post...also known as the "swapmeet". Chad came with me for moral support...I was a lil nervous about my first day as a vendor at this outdoor flea market of sorts...I would frequent this market many Sundays as a curious buyer and people observer. Now I am on the other side of the booth selling my own little slice of unique. Art. Still observing the passer-"buyers" ;) It was fun! I can't wait to witness the growth of each new Sunday I set up my booth and put my paintings out under the big blue sky!!!

Stay tuned... www.sassafrassart.com
Look for me on Etsy...SOON!!!

Monday- Chad's 34th Birthday!!!!! I wanted it to be special....I set up balloons and gifts and roses...he woke up to a birthday wonderland and a singing Mickey Mouse... haha. We went out to breakfast and then shopping at Urban for a couple new shirts compliments of his parents sending some b-day scratch his way! yay! Then it was putt putt golfing at The Magic Castle...I hadn't done that in years! I am not as good I had hoped to be...Chad beat me. But hey, it was his b-day afterall...so, I accepted my defeat graciously. Plus I knew what was coming next..and was too excited to be mad I lost putt putt..haha...a SURPRISE DINNER!!! Chad's friends gathered in one place...Cobras and Matadors..our favorite spanish style tapas joint...great ambience and even better eats! He was truly shocked...and so elated to see all his friends smiling faces pop out from behind their menus and yell "SURPRISE!!!" I even snuck in his favorite cake..oreo icecream cookie cake. Oh boy!!!! We had great conversation that spilled over into Jones Bar...some of the night owls stayed out for a night cap....
The night was so full of love, laughter, friendly faces. What a special day til the very end.
